About
Dr Curwell is completing general practice training with a particular interest in procedural medicine and minor surgery. He studied medicine at Imperial College London, graduating in 2016 and subsequently moving to New Zealand to practice.
Over the past seven years, Dr Curwell has worked as a registrar across a range of hospital-based surgical disciplines, including ENT, general surgery, plastic surgery and orthopaedics. This experience has given him a broad range of surgical skills and a particular interest in bringing high-quality procedural care into the community.
His areas of interest include the assessment and treatment of skin cancers and lesions, as well as minor hand procedures such as carpal tunnel release and trigger finger surgery. He also has an interest in scar revision, removal of benign lumps and cysts, selected soft-tissue procedures, and vasectomy.
Dr Curwell takes a careful, patient-centred approach, ensuring that patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options and what to expect before proceeding. Where specialist input is appropriate, he works closely with colleagues and arranges referral.
Outside of medicine, Dr Curwell is a husband and father of three. He enjoys spending time with his family and, when time allows, can be found enjoying music, snowboarding and the outdoors. He enjoys combining his surgical experience with the accessibility and continuity of general practice, helping patients access procedural care close to home.
