Base aviation examination fee $350

FAA Class 1, 2 and 3 Medical Assessments

All FAA applicants are required to submit an application using FAA MedXPress (online FAA Form 8500-8).

FAA applicants must complete their application via the MedXPress system. 1. Fill out your application and bring a copy of the 8500-8 summary sheet from your MedXPress account to your appointment. For any health-related questions, please email nurse@remueradoctors.co.nz.

Base aviation examination fee $350

For CAA medicals, we use the SkyCert system.

1. Complete your forms online at SkyCert CAA online forms before your consultation
2. Upload the necessary documents and email reception@remueradoctors.co.nz to schedule your appointment.

In most cases, your certificate will be issued on the same day as your appointment, unless further investigations are required.

Eye correction (glasses, contact lenses) and standby spectacles
Audio Report (if applicable)
Specialist or GP reports related to any medical conditions

For Class 1 Transport Canada medicals, applicants are required to complete an audiogram and ECG, which we can do in house. No blood test required.

Please bring your blue Transport Canada booklet for stamping on the day of your appointment.

Note: Transport Canada typically takes a minimum of 8 weeks to process an application for a medical certificate.

Information and Charges

Our reception and nurse team are fully trained in advising you of the tests that you will need to have as part of your application to hold a medical certificate to fly.

It is always advisable to discuss what is necessary for your medical application prior to your appointment due to no aviation authority being the same in their requirements.

Pilot medical examination $350

*$50 discount for each addition pilot accrediation when booked together

Please note that these fees do not include the processing fees that each aviation authority may charge, or costs of any further specialist testing.

Our Aviation Medical Examiners (AMEs) can extend a CAA NZ Medical Certificate for up to 60 days past expiry. This is to allow additional time for the applicant to complete a renewal.

Extensions can be issued immediately however they must be completed BEFORE the current Medical Certificate expires

Be prepared: bring all of your documents to your examination. We have 14 days from your appointment date to Issue or Defer your certification and submit all documents to the FAA. Delays in providing the correct information will result in Deferral pending review by the FAA, which can take months.

All medications, including over-the-counter (OTC) need to be reported. Please see the following lists of medications: Do Not Issue/Do Not Fly Medications, the OTC List for Pilots and the Therapeutic Medications section.

The FAA has access to driving and arrest records. The question related to DUI/DWI is regarding any arrests at any time in your life.

If you have a Disqualifying Medical Condition, the FAA may issue medical certification contingent on periodic reports.

Alternatively, we may be able to certify you via the CACI process.

Only those pilots who are first-time applicants will be required to take and pass a colour vision test. A grading sheet will be printed and uploaded to the FAA Medical Certification Division

We use the FAA-approved Waggoner CCVT

If you have colour vision deficiency, there are options to keep you flying.

Pilots who have taken and passed any of the previously FAA-Approved color vision tests will NOT be required to take any of the new computer-based tests

Pilots who already hold a 1st or 2nd Class medical certificate and have a LOE (Letter of Evidence) or SODA (having passed OCVT and CV MFT), or pilots who already hold a 3rd class medical certificate with SODA or LOE and want to keep a 3rd Class DO NOT require colour vision retesting.

Please limit consumption of caffeine-containing products prior to your medical appointment

Please also be aware that a urine sample is required during the medical assessment.

CAA Application Fee - $121 - This is paid directly to CAA New Zealand.
Extension Certificate
- No charge - if renewal appointment is booked with us
- $150 - if renewal appointment is booked with an alternative provider

- Pre a& post Spirometry (Lung Function Test) - $105

*ECG, Spirometry & Audiometry are only required during initial certificate issue and during specific age intervals as specified by CAA/CASA
