Our Team

Our practice has provided medical services to the local community for almost 50 years. We are proud of our legacy of intergenerational care, serving some of our patient families for four generations.

Dr Jamie Shepherd and Dr Vicki Mount, owners of Remuera Doctors and Mission Bay Doctors, live locally. Because they’re part of the community, they keep in touch with what matters to you, our patients.

All our GPs are Members or Fellows of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Their medical training is completed and now, after working in the hospital system, they have completed, or are part-way through, specialist postgraduate GP training. A Member of the RNZCGP is part-way through specialist training; a Fellow has completed training and qualified as a specialist GP. All our doctors participate in ongoing medical training.

Our doctors are panel physicians for Immigration New Zealand and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

All our doctors and nurses speak English. One of our doctors speaks fluent Mandarin and conversational Cantonese. If you require an interpreter for any other language, we can arrange this ahead of your appointment.

Dr Jamie Shepherd FRNZCGP and MRCS

“I knew from age five that I wanted to be a doctor, it’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do. As a GP, you form special relationships with people and have a unique opportunity to play a positive role in their lives and in their community. Those relationships are very special. My focus is on making sure every person has a fantastic experience at Mission Bay Doctors, and I’m always thinking about innovative ways to improve patient care via smart technology.

I trained at the University of Otago, then worked around the world, including training in emergency medicine for five years at the Royal College of Surgeons in London. I’m experienced in all aspects of family care, skin medicine and surgery, and mental health. My spare time centres on family, kids, and sports.”

Dr Vicki Mount FRNZCGP, DipPaeds, MPH

“General Practice is more than a job. For me, it’s about serving our patients and our community. I am so fortunate to work in a role that combines my wonder at the human body with the opportunity to truly know my patients and walk alongside them through their life journey.

Before training in medicine, I worked in public health for over 10 years. This inspired me to study further, to complete specialist GP training, a Diploma in Paediatrics, and a Master's degree in Public Health. I continue to be involved in medical research, focusing on vaccine-preventable diseases and health inequities.

I am a generalist doctor at heart but with special interests in children’s health, menopause, healthy aging, and skin medicine and surgery.

Outside of work I love dance, skiing, and travel with my family.”

“I’m interested in motivating people, encouraging patients to actively consider how strongly their lifestyle affects their good health.

Graduating from the University of Otago, I began my ‘portfolio career,’ working as a doctor at Christchurch Hospital, moving to General Practice, then into Acute Medicine, treating sudden illness, accident and injury. My urgent care experience complements the work I do now as a GP. It is exciting to be part of primary care as it changes and evolves through shared-care, and advances in technology.

When I’m not at work, I’m riding my racing motorbike or eating out with friends. I speak conversational Mandarin and Cantonese.”
